The 2015 WRX / WRX STI offers it's owners much improved performance over previous models. This will only encourage you to get out to road courses and/or do some real spirited driving. Improve your lap times and let the good times roll longer with an AP Racing Big Brake Kit.
These cars were designed from the ground up as a pure sports car. Light weight, front engine, and rear drive all combine to offer a great driving experience on the street. On track with sticky tires, they're laying down lap times on par with what are supposed to be much faster cars. These cars were also designed with the aftermarket in mind. Many features of the car are rather basic to keep costs down, and the brakes are one of those areas. They're heavy, not particularly attractive, and leave a lot of performance on the table when track temperatures soar.
Not all brake systems are created equal. In fact, most big brake kits aren't really suited towards heavy track use either. While they usually increase thermal capacity and may solve small fading issues, they generally aren't optimized for hardcore track use. Essex set out to design a couple of brake packages that can take anything thrown at them...and then some.
The Essex Designed AP Racing Competition Big Brake Kit saves 24.4 lbs. from the nose of the 2015 WRX, or 12.2 lbs. of unsprung weight per front corner .
Two AP Racing, CP8350 calipers, with anodized aluminum mounting brackets and hardware
Two AP Racing CP3908 racing discs with floating anodized aluminum hats
One pair of Spiegler Stainless Steel Brake Lines
One set of AP Racing C300 Endurance Racing Brake Pads (suitable for track use only). Please contact us for other pad options.
This specific kit is designed to work with aftermarket wheels. A 6mm spacer would be needed to clear OEM wheels. Please make sure you verify wheel fitment with us before installing. Kits cannot be returned after you have installed them on the car.
What about the Rear Brakes?
This Competition system is designed to mimic the OEM brake torque output of the factory setup, it is completely fine to run our front-only brake kit. The major benefit of course is how this system provides the same torque output time and time again. Basically it's resistance to brake fading. Due to the drivetrain layout and weight distribution of these cars, they actually use very little rear brake compared to other platforms. Therefore the greatest performance bang-for-the-buck will definitely be found in front brake upgrades.
